Democratic Ohio Attorney General candidate Elliot Forhan pledged to do his best to “kill Donald Trump” in a campaign video.
Discussing a theoretical trial and guilty verdict, Forhan stated, “I want to tell you what I mean when I say that I am going to kill Donald Trump. I mean I’m going to obtain a conviction rendered by a jury of his peers at a standard of proof beyond a reasonable doubt based on evidence, presented at a trial conducted in accordance with the requirements of due process, resulting in a sentence, duly executed, of capital punishment.”
“That is what I mean when I say I am going to kill Donald Trump,” he ended.
The Republican candidate for attorney general, Keith Faber, who currently serves as the Ohio Auditor, condemned the statement. “My Democrat opponent for Attorney General just came out and said he wanted to kill President Trump. That kind of vile comment makes it clear that Eliot Forhan is not qualified to be Attorney General,” he said, adding, “Add to that his recent celebration of the assassination of Charlie Kirk and you see just what kind of individuals the Democrats are running for Attorney General.”
Following Charlie Kirk’s assassination, Forhan wrote on social media, “[Expletive] Charlie Kirk,” and later defended his comment.
Other Republicans blasted Forhan’s goal to execute Trump, with Republican treasurer candidate Jay Edwards saying, “This isn’t clever; it’s a deranged fantasy from someone seeking Ohio’s top law enforcement role.” He added that Democrats’ “silence is telling.”
