NYC Mayor Indicted on Federal Criminal Charges

New York City Mayor Eric Adams has been indicted on federal criminal charges, according to The New York Times.

Details of the matter remain sealed.

Earlier this month, federal agents seized phones from several of those close to Adams as part of an investigation beginning in 2021. The investigation sought to examine allegations that his campaign received donations from the Turkish government.

“My fellow New Yorkers, it is now my belief that the federal government intends to charge me with crimes. If so, these charges will be entirely false and based on lies,” Adams said in a statement.

“But they would not be surprising. I always knew that if I stood my ground for all of you that I would be a target — and a target I became. For months, leads and rumors have been aimed at me in an attempt to undermine my credibility and paint me as guilty.”

“I will fight these injustices with every ounce of my strength and my spirit,” Adams added. “If I’m charged, I know I’m innocent.”

This is a breaking story.
