President Trump shared that any negotiations and peace talks with Iran have ceased.
“There are no talks or conversations going on, or scheduled, with the Islamic Republic of Iran,” he wrote on Truth Social. “The Naval Blockade remains in full force and effect. The Hormuz Strait is open and operating. All water mines have been removed or detonated. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
President Trump’s statement came as the 60-day negotiating period ended. He told Fox News in a recent phone interview that Iran “should put up the white flag of surrender.”
“I have no time schedule,” Trump added. “I’m not in a hurry.”
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told state TV that the conflict has shifted the global perspective of Iran.
“In my view, Iran’s foreign policy in the post-war period will be completely different from the period before the war. The perception of Iran as weak has been completely eliminated,” he said, as reported by CBS News.
“It was the second or third day of the war when Trump posted a tweet in two words: ‘Unconditional surrender,'” he explained. “And, well, they were seeking surrender. They became disappointed, then they pursued regime change; they became disappointed, then they pursued partition; they became disappointed, then they pursued internal unrest. Every plan that they could pursue, they pursued, and they were unsuccessful in bringing this war to a rapid conclusion.”
Earlier Tuesday, President Trump posted a map of the Strait of Hormuz with a banner, “NEW U.S. Territory.”
