Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, responded to critics who attacked her for apparently “liking” an Instagram post by former President Donald Trump.
The post in question was an August 13 entry outlining the GOP platform for 2024. After receiving backlash, Brittany Mahomes removed the “like.”
In an Instagram story on Friday, she addressed her detractors, stating, “I mean honestly, to be a hater as an adult you have to have some deep-rooted issues you refuse to heal from childhood. There’s no reason your brain is fully developed and you hate to see others doing well.”
Patrick Mahomes has maintained a neutral stance on politics, choosing not to endorse a candidate during the 2020 election.
When asked about the current election during an April interview with Time, he emphasized the importance of individual choice, saying, “I don’t want to pressure anyone to vote for a certain president. I want people to use their voice, whoever they believe in. I want them to do the research.”
