NFL Legend Randy Moss Reveals Cancer Diagnosis

NFL Hall of Famer Randy Moss has revealed that he is a cancer survivor after undergoing surgery to remove a cancerous mass from his bile duct, located between his liver and pancreas.

In an emotional Instagram Live on Friday, Moss shared, “Been in the hospital for six days. I just got out today — thank God! Man, the prayer warriors. I felt all the prayers coming through there. All my teammates. I’ve seen everything you guys tweeted at me. All the prayers. All the well-wishes.”

Moss disclosed the extent of his condition, saying, “I did have cancer. They found it in the bile duct, right in between the pancreas and the liver. I had a six-hour surgery. Dr. Martini, you’re the man, I had a Whipple procedure. I am forever grateful.” Reflecting on his health, Moss admitted, “I didn’t think I would ever be in a position like this, as healthy as I thought I was. Y’all best believe your boy came through.”

Moss is currently on an extended leave from ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown to focus on recovery. ESPN expressed their support, stating, “Randy has been an invaluable member of the team … elevating Countdown with his insight and passion. He has ESPN’s full support, and we look forward to welcoming him back when he is ready.”

In a prior Instagram video, Moss had asked for prayers, saying, “Throughout the week of the holidays, your boy has been battling something internal. I just ask for all the prayer warriors to put their blessing hands on me and my family through these hard times.”

He also encouraged others to prioritize their health: “Get your health checkups, your blood work done.”

Moss, who played 14 seasons in the NFL and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018, concluded his message with optimism: “We will work through it, alright. God bless you all. Thanks for the prayers.”
