Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker recently voiced his support for Donald Trump in the upcoming election, emphasizing Trump’s pro-life stance as the key reason for his endorsement.
In an interview with Laura Ingraham, Butker was asked whether he would back Trump, to which he responded, “I’m supporting the president that’s going to be the most pro-life, I want us to be fighting for the most vulnerable, fighting for the unborn, and that’s what we should prioritize.” He added that voters should “be prayerful men that put God first,” urging others to support candidates with strong pro-life positions.
Butker’s public advocacy for the unborn has made him a target for left-wing media, particularly after his commencement speech at Benedictine College, where he criticized President Biden for supporting abortion despite professing his Catholic faith.
“Our own nation is led by a man who publicly and proudly proclaims his Catholic faith, but at the same time is delusional enough to make the Sign of The Cross during a pro-abortion rally,” he remarked during the speech.
In addition to his pro-life views, Butker spoke about the roles of women in society, challenging modern career-focused narratives by sharing that his wife found true fulfillment in her roles as a wife and mother.
“Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world,” he told the women in the audience, “but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world.”
Despite the criticism from the left, Butker remains a highly respected figure, both on and off the field, recently becoming the highest-paid kicker in NFL history. His outspokenness on faith and values has only strengthened his influence among those who share his beliefs.
