NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Theismann celebrated the 125th Army-Navy Game by gifting two cars to U.S. military veterans on Friday.
Theismann, who faced Army and Navy during his standout career at Notre Dame, appeared at the National Mall in Washington, D.C., to deliver the vehicles. Former Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III joined him for the event, presenting retrofitted cars to two active-duty military families.
Theismann handed over a 2024 Chevy Malibu to Navy Seaman Matthew Walker and his family, while Griffin presented a 2023 Chevy Equinox to Army Specialist Caleb Dooley and his family. The giveaway was part of the Recycled Rides campaign in partnership with USAA.
In an interview with Fox News Digital, Theismann expressed how meaningful the event was to him, especially as it coincided with the historic Army-Navy game weekend.
This year’s Army-Navy game, set for Saturday, will feature appearances by President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance. Trump, attending his fifth Army-Navy game, will be joined in the suite by Marine veteran Daniel Penny, recently acquitted of manslaughter charges after protecting subway riders in New York City.
The Army-Navy rivalry is as intense as ever this season. No. 19 Army (11-1) claimed the American Athletic Conference championship with a decisive 35-14 win over Tulane, while Navy (8-3) had a strong start to their season with six consecutive wins. The game promises to be a highlight of this historic matchup.
