New Bill Would Ban US Gov’t from Funding Drag Queen Shows in Foreign Countries

Texas Representative Louie Gohmert (R) introduced legislation Monday that would keep U.S. tax dollars from being used to support drag theater performances.

From The Daily Caller:

The bill was first obtained by the Daily Caller and comes after the State Department said it paid a $20,600 grant for a cultural center in Ecuador to host “drag theater performances,” arguing it gives LGBTQ people a chance “to express themselves freely and safely.”

In October, Fox News reported the State Department awarded the grant to the Centro Ecuatoriano Norteamericano Abraham Lincoln (CENA) in Ecuador on Sept. 23. CENA is a non-profit organization backed by the U.S. Embassy and Consulate in the country, to “promote diversity and inclusion” in the area.

The project at CENA will last until Aug. 31, 2023, and includes “workshops,” “12 drag theater performances” and a “2-minute documentary,” according to Fox News.

“It wasn’t enough for the Biden Administration to push gender extremism in the United States, they have now taken their crusade to a global level, courtesy of our tax dollars, and it must stop. To the world, the U.S. used to represent a nation that stood as a beacon of liberty and democracy. Now, we are a laughingstock as our leaders appear to care more about funding drag shows in foreign countries than they do about securing our own borders or curbing rampant inflation which is financially crushing our citizens,” Gohmert told the Daily Caller before introducing the legislation.
