Netanyahu Blasts Western Allies for Enabling Hamas Amid Gaza Conflict

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has sharply criticized the leaders of France, the United Kingdom, and Canada—Emmanuel Macron, Keir Starmer, and Mark Carney—accusing them of enabling Hamas through their opposition to Israel’s military actions in Gaza. In a video statement, Netanyahu argued that calls from the three leaders to halt Israeli operations and prioritize humanitarian aid effectively support Hamas by undermining Israel’s efforts to dismantle the group.

Netanyahu’s remarks followed the killing of two Israeli embassy staff in Washington, D.C., by an alleged assailant who cited a pro-Palestinian motive. The Israeli Prime Minister linked the attack to increasing global antisemitism and incitement against Israel.

The criticism came after the trio issued a joint statement condemning Israeli military escalation and urging more humanitarian access to Gaza, while also calling for Hamas to release hostages. Netanyahu accused them of standing on the “wrong side of history” and emboldoning Hamas and blamed their rhetoric for encouraging anti-Israel violence.

In the past, the Israeli Prime Minister has warned European leaders that if Israel is not allowed to defend itself and defeat the Hamas terrorists at its borders that the “crimes that Hamas-ISIS is committing today in Gaza, will tomorrow be committed in Paris, New York, and everywhere around the world.”

French and British officials rejected Netanyahu’s accusations in a response to the recent statement, in which the two nations affirmed their condemnation of antisemitism and support for Israel’s right to self-defense within the bounds of international law.
