NATO Chief Warns of Attack, Stockpiling for Blackouts

Lord George Robertson, former NATO Secretary General and UK Defense Secretary, has revealed he is actively preparing for potential infrastructure attacks on the United Kingdom—warning that Western nations are “under attack” and dangerously vulnerable to sabotage.

In a recent interview with The Times, Robertson detailed how he has begun hoarding emergency supplies in case of a significant disruption to modern life. Among his preparations are flashlights in every room of his home, extra cash in case of banking failures, a battery-powered radio for emergency broadcasts, and stockpiles of food and water. He said he is “as ready as I could be” should disaster strike.

The former top NATO official expressed grave concerns about growing threats to critical national infrastructure (CNI), emphasizing that modern society is “on a knife edge.” He warned that it will be too late to act “when the lights go out and the hospitals shut.”

Robertson believes Russia is testing the limits of the West’s response. “They’re going to the edge of what they think is acceptable,” he said. “That’s the way in which you undermine Western societies.”

Perhaps most notably, he hinted at possible deception surrounding major infrastructure failures—particularly a blackout that knocked out power to the entire Iberian Peninsula earlier this year. While the official explanation cited a cascading power fluctuation, Robertson remarked that “maybe” the story is true, but added, “that is not what everybody believes.”

The Labour Party politician, who once praised Vladimir Putin as a potential Western ally, now says the Russian leader has changed dramatically. “Russia is clearly at war with us,” he warned in a previous statement. “They’ve clearly declared war on us—even if we haven’t done so in return.”

Robertson urged the public to embrace resilience, believing Britons should brace for a “significant attack on the homeland” and not rely solely on government preparedness.
