DR. ANTHONY FAUCI ON THE US STILL BEING IN THE “MIDDLE” OF A PANDEMIC:
- The “caution” comes as Dr. Anthony Fauci claimed this week that the United States is still in the middle of a pandemic and warned people to “mask up” indoors.
- “Here we are, going into the third year of it and we are still in the middle of a pandemic with the numbers you just showed,” Fauci said Tuesday.
- The statement from Fauci followed Twitter owner Elon Musk’s call to prosecute the doctor after his role in COVID lockdowns.
- “Fauci lied to Congress and funded gain-of-function research that killed millions of people. Not awesome. imo,” Musk tweeted. “My pronouns are Prosecute/Fauci.”
BACKGROUND:
- Earlier this week, House Republicans announced they will demand testimony from the Biden administration on the origins of COVID-19 in China as well as the United States.
- Rep. James Comer (R-KY) and Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) released a list of officials they will be requesting testimony from in the new year.
- “Discovering the origin of COVID-19 is vital to providing accountability and protecting Americans in the future. Mounting evidence points to the virus originating from a leak at the Wuhan lab. EcoHealth Alliance, a U.S. National Institutes of Health grantee, passed taxpayer funds to the Wuhan lab to conduct gain of function research on bat coronaviruses – research that may have started the pandemic,” Comer said Wednesday.
- Jordan echoed the sentiment, saying the American people “deserve the facts and truth about the origins of COVID-19.”
- The congressman argued that COVID “disrupted our lives and livelihoods for over two years: kids couldn’t go to school, small businesses and churches were closed, our economy tanked, and our freedoms were restricted. If we had known the truth about the virus’s origins, we could have combated the virus in a more meaningful way at the outset of the pandemic.”
