Mules Deliver Aid to North Carolina Hurricane Victims

Mules are being used to deliver aid to North Carolina residents impacted by the destruction caused by Hurricane Helene.

A company called Mountain Mule Packers has prepared a mule train to reach areas not accessible by vehicles.

The company specializes in “military packing courses,” “mountain and extreme terrain packing,” and specializes in heavy haul, movement of crew-served weapons and difficult loads,” according to its website.

“They call them beasts of burden, we call them our beloved mules. They are capable and willing to work in many conditions most won’t. They are not stubborn…..they are wise, and require respect,” the company wrote on Facebook. “They have had many roles in their careers, from hauling camping gear and fresh hunt, pulling wagons and farm equipment; to serving in training the best of the very best of our military special forces, carrying weapons, medical supplies, and even wounded soldiers.”

Mountain Mule Packers owner Mike Toberer told the Associated Press that each mule can carry about 200 pounds of supplies.
