MIT Instructs Students, Faculty to Take ‘LGBTQ+ 101’ Training Course

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is mandating that students and faculty take a training course called “LGBTQ+ 101.”

The course, viewed by The Daily Wire, is designed to fill a requirement on preventing sexual harassment.

According to the outlet, the training course pushes radical ideologies before making participants answer multiple-choice “knowledge checks.”

One of the topics in the training course was “deadnaming,” or using the birth and legal name of a transgender individual who goes by a different name.

“Deadnaming” is “considered a violent act” in the course.

The course describes “gender-affirming care” as helping “transgender people align various aspects of their lives – emotional, interpersonal, and biological – with their gender identity.”

The outlet reported that the training asks participants, “Are you a visible, dependable ally? What have you done recently, or what are you planning on doing, that can contribute to a feeling of LGBTQ+ belonging at MIT?”

MIT’s Institute Discrimination and Harassment Response Office (IDHR) provides a description for the course: “This entry-level course on gender and sexual orientation is for everyone, whether you’re part of the LBGTQ+ community or an ally. You will hear from senior leaders, staff, faculty, and students on ways you can advocate for yourself, be an ally and how you can help contribute to an inclusive and intersectional campus that supports everyone. We want everyone at MIT to know that all are welcome here.”

Other trainings available to students are “Responding to Disclosures at MIT” and “Power Dynamics.”
