Michigan Democrat Attempts to Oust RFK Jr.

A Democratic representative filed articles of impeachment against Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., claiming he has failed in his position.

Rep. Haley Stevens (D-MI) said in a video statement on the articles that the secretary has “turned his back on science, on public health, and on the American people.” She claimed that “families are less safe” under his leadership, adding that “health care costs are skyrocketing, and life-saving research, including right here in Michigan, is being gutted.”

Stevens further claimed that Kennedy is the “biggest self-created threat to our health and safety.”

Stevens announced her intention to file articles of impeachment against RFK Jr. in September. “RFK Jr. is making our country less safe and making healthcare less affordable and accessible for Michiganders,” she claimed at the time. “His contempt for science, the constant spreading of conspiracy theories, and his complete disregard for the thousands of research hours spent by America’s top doctors and experts is unprecedented, reckless, and dangerous.”

According to the articles of impeachment, Kennedy has “abused the powers of his office and failed to faithfully execute the laws of the United States, in violation of his constitutional oath and his duty under Article II, Section 3, of the Constitution.” In allegedly doing so, he has “imperiled the health and safety of the American people, eroded public confidence in the Nation’s public health institutions, and stalled decades of scientific and medical progress.” The articles condemn RFK Jr.’s agency reductions, cancellation of grants and research projects, and his removal of the COVID-19 vaccine from recommended schedules, among other actions.
