Melania Trump Hosts AI Meeting for Industry Leaders

First Lady Melania Trump held a meeting of the White House Task Force on Artificial Intelligence (AI) Education with the task force members and leaders in the industry’s private sector.

“I predict AI will represent the single largest growth category in our nation during the Trump Administration—and I won’t be surprised if AI becomes known as the greatest engine of progress in the history of the United States of America,” said the first lady. “But, as leaders and parents we must manage AI’s growth responsibly. During this primitive stage, it is our duty to treat AI as we would our own children—empowering, but with watchful guidance. We are living in a moment of wonder, and it is our responsibility to prepare America’s children.”

The meeting is scheduled to occur hours before President Trump hosts a dinner for big tech leaders, including Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Apple CEO Tim Cook, Microsoft founder Bill Gates, and OpenAI founder Sam Altman, Fox News reports.

Melania Trump announced a nationwide AI challenge for K-12 students in August, inviting them to participate in an event to “discover, develop, and expand AI’s potential.”

According to the initiative’s website, the Presidential AI Challenge celebrates 250 years of independence.

“Early training in the responsible use of AI tools will demystify this technology and prepare America’s students to be confident participants in the AI-assisted workforce, propelling our Nation to new heights of scientific innovation and economic achievement,” the site explains, directing participants in the challenge to “complete a project that involves the study, development, or use of an AI method or tool to address community challenges, while educators will focus on creative approaches to teaching or using AI technologies in K-12 learning.”
