Clearwater Police and Fire Rescue teams rushed to the scene shortly after an emergency call came in around 8:43 p.m., according to city officials.
Early reports from WFLA indicate multiple people were injured, though the full extent of the casualties remains unclear as the investigation continues. Social media accounts from witnesses suggest the incident may have involved a ferry boat that struck a sandbar, resulting in a “mass casualty event” and approximately 40 patients requiring treatment.
