Massacre of Christians in DRC Exposes Continued Islamist Terror

A brutal massacre of Christians in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has left nearly 100 believers dead, highlighting the growing threat of Islamist extremism in Africa.

Open Doors reported that 70 Christians were killed Monday night while worshiping at a funeral service, with dozens more slain in nearby villages. The SITE Intelligence Group confirmed the death toll neared 100. Responsibility was claimed by the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), an ISIS-linked terror group.

Local pastor Rev. Mbula Samaki described the horror: “They arrived and started killing. Those who tried to flee were shot dead, and others were killed with machetes.” Verified footage reportedly showed children and women among the victims, some with their hands tied.

An African Open Doors partner noted that attacks like this happen far too often but rarely make headlines. “If we take just August, there’s been over 10, we have documented 10 attacks, but there have been a lot more which go unreported.”

President Trump has already condemned the attacks and reaffirmed his commitment to the Washington Accords peace deal. A White House spokesperson declared, “The Trump administration condemns in the strongest terms this horrific violence against Christians in the DRC and is committed to advancing the Washington Accords.”

This massacre exposes the ongoing war on Christians that too many in the West ignore.
