The Danish Energy Agency announced on Wednesday that an object near the Nord Stream 2 pipeline has been successfully salvaged.
The operation took place on March 28th, 2023, and was attended by a representative of the pipeline operator, Nord Stream 2 AG.
According to the Agency, investigations showed that the object in question was an empty maritime smoke buoy used for visual marking, and it did not pose a safety risk.
The object was recovered from a depth of 73 meters.
“Investigations indicate that the object is an empty maritime smoke buoy, which is used for visual marking. The object does not pose a safety risk,” the agency said in a statement.
The pipeline connects Russia to Germany and was completed in 2021.
