Man Donates Late Wife’s Clothing to Los Angeles Fire Victims

In the wake of the devastating Los Angeles County wildfires, donations have been pouring in from across the nation to support victims. Among those stepping up is Rudy Burgoz, an Arizona State University alum and booster, whose personal loss has inspired a heartfelt gesture of giving.

Burgoz, who lost his wife Kathryn in November, is now channeling his grief into action. Reflecting on the devastation caused by the fires, Burgoz was moved by stories of victims who lost everything.

“They interviewed a person and asked him what he had, did he have anything left. He said, ‘All I’ve got is what I’m wearing.’ And it just hit me. How many other people are like that?”

Burgoz decided to donate his late wife’s clothes, believing it’s what she would have wanted.

“I’ve been thinking about what to do with my wife’s clothes since she passed, and I thought, you know, she would like this. She would like for me to give her clothes to a worthy cause,” Burgoz said.

Hoping to inspire others, Burgoz is encouraging many other people in Arizona to rally together and send needed donations to wildfire victims.

“I think there’s gotta be someone that could coordinate this and maybe send a bunch of clothes besides what I have to offer. Hopefully this will kind of mushroom and get the ball rolling,” he added.

As organizations and individuals work to provide aid, efforts like Burgoz’s remind us of the power of compassion and community during times of crisis.
