Vem Miller, the man arrested outside Donald Trump’s Coachella Rally, has challenged accusations that he planned to assassinate the former president.
Miller was arrested on gun charges, Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco explained Sunday night. “I can tell you that from my perspective, from a state law enforcement agency’s perspective, the firearms charges is what we arrested him for and booked him on,” he said. “Anything further will come from the federal government, and quite frankly, I don’t know if we will be a part of that.”
According to Bianco, Miller was also in possession of “multiple passports with multiple names” and “multiple driver’s licenses with different names.” Miller’s vehicle also had a “fake license plate,” the sheriff said.
Miller, who lives in Las Vegas, told the Southern California News Group that he received an invitation to the rally from the head of Clark County’s Republican Party, noting that he lawfully carries firearms in his trunk. He was unfamiliar with the differences between Nevada and California gun laws.
Following his arrest, Miller was arrested on a $5,000 bail. The FBI has not pursed federal charges against him.
Miller, head of the America Happens Network, an anti-censorship group, told Fox News that he began carrying firearms in his trunk upon receiving death threats.
He explained that he is “100% a Trump supporter.” While he considered Bernie Sanders’ ideology prior to 2018, Miller said he has since adopted “Constitutional beliefs” and called Trump a “visual example of free speech.”
Discussing the presence of questionable identification in the vehicle, Miller asserted, “None of those are fake.” Miller noted that some documents have his full Armenian name while others do not.
