Majority of Republican Voters Believe Trump Is Not Guilty of Federal Crimes

Almost three-quarters of Republican voters believe Donald Trump did not commit “serious federal crimes.”

The finding contrasts with Independent and Democratic voters, the majority of which believe Trump has committed “serious federal crimes.”

According to a New York Times/Siena poll, 74% of Republicans believe Trump did not commit the crimes, whereas 86% of Democrats and 55% of Independents believe Trump to be guilty.

Fifty-six percent of the women polled said they believe Trump had committed serious crimes.

Seventy-two percent of those between the ages of 18-29 reported the same sentiment.

When asked what they thought about Trump’s actions following Biden being declared President of the United States, almost three-quarters of Republicans reported that Trump was “just exercising his right to contest the election.”

Eighty-eight percent of Democrats said Trump “went so far he threatened American democracy.”

Reporting from The Post Millennial:

When asked whether Trump "did something wrong in his handling of classified documents," 57 percent of Republicans said he had not.

Education also played a role in how likely a respondent was to view Trump's indictments as "serious," with 66 percent of those with a college degree agreeing with that statement.
