Machado Gifts Nobel Peace Prize to Trump

Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado gifted President Trump her Nobel Peace Prize during a meeting at the White House.

Trump confirmed the gift, writing on Truth Social, “It was my Great Honor to meet María Corina Machado, of Venezuela, today. She is a wonderful woman who has been through so much. María presented me with her Nobel Peace Prize for the work I have done. Such a wonderful gesture of mutual respect. Thank you María!”

Machado told reporters, as per ABC News, that she told President Trump that two hundred years ago, General Lafayette “gave Simon Bolivar a medal with George Washington’s face on it. Bolivar, since then, kept that medal for the rest of his life.”

“Actually, when you see his portraits, you can see the medal there. And it was given by General Lafayette as a sign of the brotherhood between the United States, people of United States, and the people of Venezuela in their fight for freedom against tyranny,” she added. “And 200 years in history, the people of Bolivar are giving back to the heir of Washington, a medal, in this case a medal of a Nobel Peace Prize, and a recognition for his unique commitment with our freedom.”

Machado also told “FOX & Friends Weekend” co-host Rachel Campos-Duffy that President Trump “deserves” the award.

“It was a very emotional moment,” she said. “I decided to present the Nobel Peace Prize medal on behalf of the people of Venezuela.”

Machado dedicated the Nobel Peace Prize to President Trump in October. We are on the threshold of victory and today, more than ever, we count on President Trump, the people of the United States, the peoples of Latin America, and the democratic nations of the world as our principal allies to achieve Freedom and democracy,” she said at the time. “I dedicate this prize to the suffering people of Venezuela and to President Trump for his decisive support of our cause!”
