Authorities in Michigan are searching for a gunman accused of lying in wait to ambush a well-known businessman in broad daylight outside his Macomb Township home. The shocking attack has residents of the quiet community demanding answers — and justice.
According to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting occurred at approximately 10:18 a.m. on Oct. 14 as businessman Eddie Jawad left his gated residence on 24 Mile Road. Prosecutor Peter Lucido told Fox News Digital, “Somebody was lying in wait for him. They got in there and waited for him, then started shooting at his car on the way out of his driveway.”
Surveillance video reportedly shows the suspect casing the property for more than an hour before the ambush. Lucido said Jawad was grazed by a bullet but survived. “He’s lucky he’s alive,” the prosecutor said.
Investigators are searching for a thin Black male, about 5 feet 6 to 5 feet 8 inches tall, who fled in a black Ford Escape with a stolen license plate. Lucido called the attack “nothing short of a miracle,” saying, “He literally dodged the bullets. He’s a walking miracle.”
Describing Jawad as a self-made entrepreneur and community leader, Lucido praised his resilience: “Eddie went home that night, had dinner with his family, and was back at work the next morning.”
Lucido vowed justice would be served: “Whoever did this will be held to the fullest extent of the law.”
