Letitia James to Continue Lawfare Against Trump

New York Attorney General Letitia James declared she would continue going after President-elect Donald Trump through lawfare campaigns.

“So here we are. We’ve studied their platforms. We’ve identified certain possibilities, fact patterns. We’ve created contingency plans,” she said during a press conference. “So no matter what the next administration throws at us, we are ready. We are ready to respond to their attacks.”

“This is not the time to be fearful, New York. But faithful. And steadfast. Knowing that I as the attorney general, along with my entire team, we are guardians of the law. And we are prepared, my friends, to fight back,” she added.

“We did not expect this result, but we are prepared to respond to this result. And my office has been preparing for several months, because we’ve been here before. We faced this challenge before. We use the rule of law to fight back. And we are prepared to fight back once again,” James further stated.

James sued Trump in 2022, alleging he overstated the value of his real estate holdings. The attorney general advocated for $250 million in penalties and a ban on Trump to prevent him from conducting any business in New York.

In February, Judge Arthur Engoron ordered Donald Trump to pay $354 million in the New York civil fraud case.

Following the order, Trump said, “If I weren’t running, none of this stuff would’ve ever happened, none of these lawsuits would’ve happened. I would’ve had a nice life. But I enjoy this life for a different reason–we’re going to make America great again.”
