Leftist Organization Trains Educators to Implement ‘Palestinian History, Narratives, Culture’ in Classrooms

A pro-Palestine group will be training teachers in Oakland, California to implement “Palestinian history, narratives, and culture into K-12 classrooms.”

Parents Defending Education shared a flyer with The Daily Wire, which revealed that the Middle East Children’s Alliance (MECA) will hold a training session called “Palestine in Our Classrooms: Teaching to the Moment — 75 Years of Resistance, Resilience, and Sumood.”

The training will occur on January 20 and will cost $25 dollars.

According to the flyer, the event is an “intensive in-person conference focused on incorporating Palestinian history, narratives, and culture into K-12 classrooms.”

Highlights of the event include “Palestinian and Arab youth speak,” “the impact of Oslo on a political solution to Palestine and the possibilities today,” “teaching Palestine through the arts,” “multiple perspectives framework for teaching Palestine,” and “teaching about Palestine through stories.”

There will also be a performance from “award-winning Palestinian oud musician Clarissa Britar.”

An email describing the event explains that there is an “urgency among educators to understand what is currently happening in Gaza, its historical roots and connections to the larger context of Palestinian history, and how to best teach our students about it. If we are learning about Palestinians, especially those in Gaza, it is that their resistance, resilience, and sumood are unparalleled.”
