BuzzFeed is cutting 15% of its staff and closing BuzzFeed News.
In December 2021, BuzzFeed’s stock was worth $9.71; it is now worth 75 cents.
According to a memo from BuzzFeed CEO Jonah Peretti, some BuzzFeed News employees will work for HuffPost, “a brand that is profitable with a highly engaged, loyal audience that is less dependent on social platforms.”
