Las Vegas Nurses Step In to Support Los Angeles Healthcare Workers Amid Crisis

Nurses in the Los Angeles area are receiving critical support as healthcare workers from Las Vegas step in to lend a hand during challenging times.

Earlier this week, nurses from MountainView Hospital and Sunrise Hospital arrived in Los Angeles to assist at Los Robles Medical Center in Thousand Oaks. Their presence offers much-needed relief to local medical staff, many of whom are balancing their professional responsibilities with personal losses in the wake of recent crises.

One of the visiting nurses, Ana Maria Rodriguez, shared her personal connection to the area and her reasons for volunteering. “I wanted to come help because I used to live here in Ventura County.

The devastation brought to this community is heartbreaking,” she told FOX5. “There are two reasons we’re here: to ensure patient care isn’t compromised and to support staff who are juggling work with their own personal struggles.”

Rodriguez noted that while the local staff appeared worried and somber, they expressed deep gratitude for the assistance provided by the Las Vegas team.

Currently, two nurses and a nurse executive from Las Vegas are stationed at Los Robles Medical Center and will remain as long as their help is needed, offering both professional and emotional support during this difficult time.

A team of 45 firefighters from Las Vegas are also now assisting in Los Angeles, joining two strike teams to support containment efforts.

In Napa, footage from the fire department highlights the tireless dedication of firefighters battling the Palisades Fire. Across the Greater Los Angeles area, the fires have already claimed 24 lives and consumed 40,000 acres, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake. Despite these grim statistics, fire officials are making strides.

Chief Anthony Marrone of the L.A. County Fire Department provided an update on the Eaton Fire, which has scorched 14,117 acres but is now 33% contained. “We gained no acreage yesterday, which is a very good thing,” he said. Marrone also reported that over 7,000 structures have been damaged or destroyed, and nearly 3,500 personnel are actively combating the blaze.
