Labrinth Euphoria Industry Rant Sparks Music Drama

British singer-songwriter Labrinth shocked fans this week after declaring he is “done” with the music industry while publicly criticizing HBO’s hit series Euphoria, for which he composed much of the show’s acclaimed soundtrack.

The 37-year-old artist shared the message Thursday morning in a blunt Instagram post written in all capital letters.

“I’m done with this industry. Fuck Columbia. Double fuck Euphoria,” Labrinth wrote. “I’m out. Thank you and good night.”

The sudden statement immediately sparked speculation among fans, as Labrinth has long been closely associated with Euphoria and its distinctive musical style. His atmospheric compositions and original songs helped shape the identity of the HBO drama, which first premiered in 2019.

Labrinth created several tracks featured prominently in the show, including “Still Don’t Know My Name,” “Mount Everest,” “Formula,” and “Forever.” The music quickly became a defining element of the series and earned widespread praise from viewers and critics.

Following the post, fans flooded the comment section urging Labrinth not to walk away from the industry.

“You totally made Euphoria. Whatever it is I just know I’m on your side,” read the top-liked comment, which gathered tens of thousands of likes.

Others pleaded with the artist to keep creating music.

“Please don’t stop making music the world needs you,” one fan wrote.

Another commented that the show would not feel the same without his work, saying, “Euphoria won’t feel the same without your music.”

Despite the strong reaction online, Labrinth has not yet explained what prompted his comments or why he singled out both his record label, Columbia Records, and the HBO series.

The timing of the announcement has also raised questions because Euphoria’s long-delayed third season is scheduled to premiere soon. The new season is expected to debut April 12 on HBO and Max after facing several delays over the past four years.

Production setbacks were caused by a range of issues, including scheduling conflicts as several cast members became major stars, the 2023 Hollywood writers’ strike, and the death of actor Angus Cloud.

The series helped launch the careers of multiple actors, including Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, and Jacob Elordi.

In 2025, it was also announced that Academy Award-winning composer Hans Zimmer would collaborate with Labrinth to score the upcoming season. At the time, both artists spoke positively about the partnership and their plans to shape the show’s evolving musical direction.

Zimmer said he looked forward to contributing to the story through music, while Labrinth described the opportunity to work alongside the legendary composer as exciting.

As of now, Labrinth has not posted any follow-up explanation regarding his statement or whether he plans to step away from future projects tied to the series or the music industry altogether.
