The Los Angeles Metro will provide free rides on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve to help passengers travel safely during the holiday season. On Christmas Eve, free rides will begin at 4 a.m. on December 24 and continue until 3 a.m. on December 25. Similarly, on New Year’s Eve, free rides will be available from 4 a.m. on December 31 through 3 a.m. on January 1.
Extended service hours will also be offered. On Christmas Eve, all rail lines will operate until approximately 2 a.m. For New Year’s Eve, the A, B, D, and E lines will provide 24-hour service, while the C and K lines will run until 2 a.m. Fare gates at Metro rail stations will remain open during these periods, and fare boxes will not deduct fares from TAP cards or other fare media.
In addition to free rides on Metro rail and buses, customers can access free rides on Metro Micro using the promo code “Merry24” on December 24 and “Ring25” on December 31. Metro Bike Share will also offer free 30-minute rides from December 24 through January 1. Riders can redeem this offer by selecting “1-Ride” at any Metro Bike Share kiosk, online, or via the Metro Bike Share app using the promo code “010125.” The promo can be used multiple times per day.
On New Year’s Day, Metro will increase services on the A Line in anticipation of the Rose Bowl Parade. The A, C, E, and K light rail lines will run their usual 10-minute daytime services, providing easy access to the parade route via Union Station in downtown Los Angeles.
Metrolink will also adjust its services, adding early-morning trains on the Ventura County, Orange County, and 91/Perris Valley lines and modifying schedules on the Antelope Valley and San Bernardino lines to ensure arrival at Union Station between 7 and 7:30 a.m.
This initiative aims to promote safe and convenient travel for residents and visitors during the holiday season.
