Kirk Cameron is helping launch book fairs across the United States that will offer “wholesome” alternatives to other fairs’ offerings.
Cameron said many book fairs have books that contain “pornography.”
“It’s obvious that Scholastic is committed to indoctrinating our youth with harmful messages,” Cameron told Fox News while discussing a new project, SkyTree Book Fairs.
“They are not just the 1,000-pound gorilla in this space. They are the space,” he explained. “They are the ones publishing this material. We want to knock them out of the race.”
Some of the books published by Scholastic that have received criticism include “Welcome to St. Hell: My Trans Teen Misadventure: A Graphic Novel,” and “Melissa.”
Both books portray transgender minors, with “Welcome to St. Hell” including nudity.
More than 600 public and private schools have expressed interest in alternative books for children.
“SkyTree Book Fairs offers a positive alternative to Scholastic,” said Cameron. “We want to do a better job of providing wholesome books to kids.”
“We want a better alternative that puts good age-appropriate books in the hands of our children,” Cameron added.
