Buckingham Palace confirmed that King Charles will not issue an Easter Message this year.
GB News noted that the Palace has not always released an annual Easter message, explaining that the late Queen Elizabeth II also did not routinely issue such a statement. Nonetheless, the lack of an Easter message comes as the Palace issued a statement for Ramadan.
“Ladies and gentlemen, as Muslims from across the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth begin preparations to celebrate Eid, after fasting for the holy month of Ramadan, I just wanted to convey my heartfelt best wishes to all who celebrate this festival,” he said during the pandemic, saying he was “only too aware of the impact of the pandemic on the Muslim community.”
Social media posts celebrating Muslim holidays also circulated on the royal family’s social media this year.
Last year, the King issued a message declaring, “The abiding message of Easter is that God so loved the world — the whole world — that He sent His son to live among us to show us how to love one another, and to lay down His own life for others in a love that proved stronger than death.”
“There are three virtues that the world still needs — faith, hope and love. ‘And the greatest of these is love,'” he said, quoting a Bible verse. “It is with these timeless truths in my mind, and my heart, that I wish you all a blessed and peaceful Easter.”
King Charles III and Queen Camilla are set to visit the United States in late April to honor the relationship between the U.S. and the United Kingdom.
Buckingham Palace confirmed the travels. “On advice of His Majesty’s Government, and at the invitation of The President of the United States, The King and Queen will undertake a State Visit to the United States of America,” the Palace said. “Their Majesties’ programme will celebrate the historic connections and the modern bilateral relationship between the United Kingdom and the United States, marking the 250th anniversary of American Independence.”
