On Thursday, Vice President Kamala Harris (D) and President Joe Biden (D) will announce more executive gun prohibitions, mostly aimed at 3-D printed weapons and switches that turn handguns into fully automatic weapons.
The Hill stated that rifles made via 3-D printing “sometimes are even undetectable by metal detectors.”
“Establish an emerging firearm threats taskforce, which will be directed to issue a report within 90 days that includes an assessment of the threats of these guns, the federal agencies’ operational and legal capacities to detect and seize them, an inter-agency plan for combatting them, and what funding the administration needs from Congress to crack down on them,” the White House stated in reference to the executive gun controls signed into law by Biden and Harris.
The Hill pointed out that full-auto conversion switches for handguns are already prohibited.
Along with directing the Secretary of Education and the Secretary of Homeland Security to outline best practices for “school-based active shooter drills,” the executive gun control also “[directs] the Secretary of Attorney General, the Secretary of Health and Human Services, and the U.S. Surgeon General,” according to the White House.
Biden and Harris share a similar ground on executive gun control. Throughout his presidency, Biden has frequently used it, and Harris declared in 2019 that “gun violence is the leading cause of death for young Black men in America.” This has to end. I’ll take executive action as president to make sure weapons stay out of the wrong hands.
