Online job search platform Indeed has offered transgender employees or those with transgender children a $10,000 check to relocate.
The check is to cover “travel-related expenses” as the employee leaves a state without gender-affirming care.
Those with transgender children are also encouraged to leave states that limit or restrict support for gender-affirming care.
The move comes as Indeed executives appear to be determined to achieve a high ranking on the Corporate Equality Index (CEI).
In 2018, Indeed “received a perfect score of 100 percent” for CEI.
“At Indeed, we firmly believe in celebrating and supporting the LGBTQ culture and community both in and outside of the workplace,” said Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Indeed Paul Wolfe at the time.
Reporting from Summit News:
Some netizens were confused by Indeed’s move considering the Bud Light backlash earlier this year after a white privileged liberal executive believed the brewer was time for a change. However, its customer base thought otherwise, nuking the beer as demand has since crashed. “Kinda weird that companies never did stuff like this for black people or disabled people,” one netizen asked. Another asked, “Does Indeed offer any relocation money for women who live in particularly misogynistic states? Of course not. “
