Jim Jordan Launches Inquiry into Prosecutor Nathan Wade

House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) has launched an inquiry into Nathan Wade, a prosecutor hired by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.

“The Committee on the Judiciary continues to conduct oversight of politically motivated prosecutions by state and local officials. Based on recent reports, we believe that you possess documents and information about the coordination of the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office (FCDAO) with other politically motivated investigations and prosecutions and the potential misuse of federal funds. Accordingly, we ask for your cooperation with our oversight,” Jordan wrote in a letter.

“On August 14, 2023, with your assistance, Fulton County District Attorney Fani T. Willis indicted a former President of the United States and current declared candidate for that office. According to a recent court filing, you have been paid more than $650,000—at the rate of $250 per hour—to serve as an ‘Attorney Consultant’ and later a ‘Special Assistant District Attorney’ in the unprecedented investigation and prosecution of the former President and other former federal officials. This filing also alleges that while receiving a substantial amount of money from Fulton County, you spent extravagantly on lavish vacations with your boss, Ms. Willis.”

Jordan stated that he believes “invoices that [Wade] submitted for payment by the FCDAO, and made public as part of this court filing” point to a collusion.

“This new information appears to substantiate our concerns that Ms. Willis’s politicized prosecution, including the decision to convene a special purpose grand jury, was aided by partisan Democrats in Washington, D.C,” he wrote.

Earlier this week, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) filed a complaint against Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis over her “improper” relationship with a Trump prosecutor.

“Despite this obviously illegal conflict of interest, Fani Willis has allegedly paid Nathan Wade–her secret boyfriend and special Trump prosecutor–nearly $700,000 in official funds,” Greene wrote in the filing.

“And Fani Willis may have received illegal kickbacks, including lavish domestic and international trips provided by Nathan Wade, from these misappropriated government funds,” the complaint added. “According to Nathan Wade’s invoices submitted to the Fulton County DA’s office, Fani Willis even used taxpayer funds to pay Nathan Wade for two trips to coordinate with President Biden’s White House staff before bringing her unprecedented indictment of President Trump, Biden’s chief political rival in 2024.”

“If proven true, these actions reflect Fani Willis’ serious lawlessness, including potential violation of public oath, bribery improper influence of a government official, criminal conspiracy, conspiracy to defraud government, racketeering, false statements and concealment, Fulton County’s gift ban, and similar Georgia public-corruption crimes,” Greene wrote.
