Jim Caviezel, best known for his leading role in “The Passion of the Christ,” is set to star in a new film from Angel Studios titled “Sound of Freedom,” which is scheduled for release nationwide on July 4, 2023.
Caviezel has described the project as “the second most important film I’ve done after ‘The Passion of the Christ.'”
Angel Studios, a platform known for empowering filmmakers with full creative control over their works, announced the highly-anticipated film this week.
The movie is based on a true story about a federal agent’s brave endeavor to save children from the clutches of human trafficking worldwide.
CEO of Angel Studios, Neal Harmon, spoke about the significance of the film, saying, “SOUND OF FREEDOM is respectfully and stunningly filmed, based on real events of undercover heroes bringing hope to many.”
He added, “This film will keep audiences on the edge of their seats with suspense and encourage all of us to take action.”
Joining Caviezel in the film are Academy Award Winner Mira Sorvino, Bill Camp, José Zúñiga, and Eduardo Verástegui, who is also a producer.
The film is penned and helmed by Alejandro Monteverde, known for Toronto award winner “Bella” and “Little Boy.”
In the film, Caviezel portrays a federal agent who, after rescuing a boy from ruthless child traffickers, discovers the boy’s sister is still held captive.
The agent quits his job and embarks on a dangerous mission into the Colombian jungle to save her, putting his life on the line.
“Sound of Freedom” is a film that “shines a light on even the darkest of places,” according to the studio’s press release.
Alejandro Monteverde directed and co-wrote the film with Rod Barr, and Eduardo Verástegui produced it.
In a unique feature, Angel Studios is using a patent-pending technology it developed for the series “The Chosen” to allow fans to “pay it forward” by buying movie tickets for others to watch “Sound of Freedom” for free.

Angel Studios is renowned for creating stories that “amplify light.” Through its platform, countless “Angel” investors select which titles the studio will create, fund, and distribute.
The studio’s first projects, “The Chosen” and “Dry Bar Comedy,” have garnered billions of views worldwide.
In a charged conversation last week on the War Room podcast, Jim Caviezel, engaged with former Trump advisor Steve Bannon.
During the interview, Caviezel levied serious accusations against the global Deep State, alleging that they collaborated with mainstream media to conceal their involvement in child trafficking.
Caviezel alluded to more pervasive issues beyond the notorious Epstein Island, hinting at other locations where he believes child exploitation takes place.
“It seems to me that every time a trafficking-related story emerges—no matter what it’s about—it disappears by the next day,” he shared with the podcast listeners.
