The British Film Institute (BFI) added trigger warnings on older James Bond films.
“Please note that many of these films contain language, images or other content that reflect views prevalent in its time but will cause offence today (as they did then),” a statement reads, according to The Telegraph. “The titles are included here for historical, cultural or aesthetic reasons and these views are in no way endorsed by the BFI or its partners.”
Two Bond films featuring Sean Connery will have the warning, “You Only Live Twice” and “Goldfinger.”
Another warning said the film “You Only Live Twice” contained “outdated racial stereotypes,” according to The Daily Mail.
Other films such as “Midnight Cowboy”, “The Ipcress File,” and “Petulia” will also receive trigger warnings.
A BFI spokesperson told Fox News Digital that trigger warnings “pop-up at point of sale when confirming tickets which is inside the venue, i.e. at the box office area, and appear in our printed guide and website copy related to the season… We do issue trigger warnings for other films and screen work that we show where appropriate.”
“A 2021 survey conducted by the British Board of Film Classification found that almost two-thirds of teenagers polled supported trigger warnings on films which might negatively affect their mental health,” the individual explained.
Last year, it was announced that James Bond books may undergo revisions due to “offensive” language.
