Ivanka Trump to Appear Before House Jan. 6 Committee Tuesday

WHAT THE COMMITTEE ASKED IVANKA IN A LETTER:
  • “The Select Committee wishes to discuss the part of the conversation you observed between President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence on the morning of January 6th. Similarly, the Select Committee would like to discuss any other conversations you may have witnessed or participated in regarding the president’s plan to obstruct or impede the counting of electoral votes,” the committee wrote in the letter to Trump, notes The Hill.
BACKGROUND:
  • The White House waived executive privilege claims for Ivanka Trump and Kushner last week, paving the way for their testimonies before the committee, according to Forbes.
  • Ivanka Trump was a White House adviser to former President Donald Trump. The Jan. 6 committee’s chairman, Democratic Representative Bennie Thompson of Mississippi, has said other witness testimony placed her in the Oval Office during some moments on Jan. 6 and the days leading up to it, Bloomberg reports.
  • The Jan 6 panel also subpoenaed Ivanka’s phone records as well as those of Eric Trump, one of President Trump’s sons.
