Israel Strikes Heavy Water Reactor After Iran Targets Hospital in Missile Strike

Israel has launched a counterstrike on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure after Iran deployed drones missiles that struck hospitals and residential centers. The attack included a bombardment of the Khondab heavy water research reactor near Arak, following an early-morning missile onslaught on Israel.

“Dozens of ballistic missiles were launched at Israel… with several hits to civilian population centres (including the Soroka hospital in southern Israel),” an Israeli military official reported. The strike injured at least 40 and damaged the Soroka Medical Center in Be’er Sheva, forcing it to shut to new patients except in emergencies.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded forcefully: “We will exact the full price from the tyrants in Tehran.” Defense Minister Israel Katz amplified the firm stance, asserting, “These are war crimes of the most serious kind — and [Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali] Khamenei will be held accountable for his crimes.” He added: “The Prime Minister and I have instructed the IDF to increase the intensity of attacks against strategic targets in Iran and against government targets in Tehran.”

Israel Defense Forces (IDF) also warned civilians in Tehran’s Area 18 to evacuate before striking the Khondab heavy water reactor, targeting a site with capability to produce weapons-grade plutonium. The International Atomic Energy Agency confirmed the reactor had been hit but contained no radioactive material.

These tailored strikes follow week-long operations against Iranian nuclear sites, leadership figures, and military infrastructure.

Israel acted decisively to disrupt Iran’s nuclear arsenal while defending its citizens. As Netanyahu vowed full accountability, the world witnessed a calibrated defense aimed at protecting Israel’s future—and preserving global stability.
