ISIS Reportedly Responsible for Iran Explosions

The ISIS terrorist group claimed responsibility for the explosions that occurred in Iran, The Epoch Times reported.

According to the ISIS-affiliated Amaq News Agency, two ISIS members infiltrated crowds near the grave of the deceased commander Qassem Soleimani and set off the explosions.

Although an estimated 103 people were said to have been killed in the explosion, the number has since been reduced to 84.

More than 250 people were injured in the blasts.

Soleimani was the leader of the Quds Force, a part of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

The U.S. considered the Quds Force a terrorist organization.

Following the January 3 attack, State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said neither the United States nor Israel were responsible for the explosions.

“I do want to address some of the irresponsible claims that I have seen circulate and say that, number one, the United States was not involved in any way, and any suggestion to the contrary is ridiculous; and number two, we have no reason to believe that Israel was involved in this explosion,” Miller stated.
