Iowa Bill Bans Vaccines Unless Manufacturers Waive Legal Immunity

Iowa lawmakers are weighing a bill that would ban vaccines unless manufacturers waive their immunity from potential lawsuits.

The bill, HF 712, says that “vaccines shall not be distributed, sold, or administered in this state unless the manufacturer of the vaccine affirmatively waives any immunity from suit for an injury arising from a design defect of the vaccine, including immunity granted by federal National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act.”

Waukee resident Courtney Collier told WHO 13, “I’ve been waiting 15 years to see this common sense legislation because every industry and business in Iowa should be liable for the products they produce and sell to consumers.”

“It should not be legal for a medical professional to offer a product to Iowans that both they and the manufacturer 100% free from liability if it harms or kills a patient.”

A similar Iowa bill specifically targeted mRNA vaccines. SF 360 sought to ban “gene-based” vaccines. Those who administered such products would be found “guilty of a simple misdemeanor and is subject to a fine of five hundred dollars per incident.” The bill defined “gene-based vaccines” as those using “messenger ribonucleic acid technology, modified messenger ribonucleic acid technology, self-amplifying messenger ribonucleic acid technology, or deoxyribonucleic acid technology.”

Montana also considered a bill that would ban the use of mRNA vaccines in most medical circumstances, although the state’s House of Representatives voted it down. The bill aimed to impose a $500 fine per violation on any healthcare professional who administered an mRNA vaccine in the state.

“If an individual is told a product will prevent them from getting sick, and yet the actual outcome of taking the product does not result in that effect, then the product is a scam,” Republican Representative and the bill’s sponsor Greg Kmetz said. “Another thing that really bothers me is all vaccine manufacturers are 100% free from all liability.” He added that “people have absolutely no recourse for damage.”
