An investigation by the O’Keefe Media Group (OMG) found that ActBlue has been making donations to Democratic campaigns without the users’ consent.
OMG spoke with Barbara Staples, a Texas resident, who learned that she made donations totaling $13,000. Another Texas resident, Gerda Henderson, learned she contributed $33,000 in unauthorized ActBlue donations over 484 days.
The Mongomery Sheriff’s Office issued a statement on the matter, saying, “It appears that both donors made voluntary contributions through ActBlue. One donor was reimbursed after contesting some of the charges, while the other cannot recall whether all or only some of the donations were authorized.”
First Assistant Brent Webster has allegedly been withholding information from Attorney General Ken Paxton surrounding the investigation into ActBlue.
“We’ve been told Webster is withholding this information from AG Paxton to seek favor with the firm Singer works for as a sort of insurance policy for his next job when he leaves the Texas OAG,” sources claimed.
Indiana residents faced the same issue. According to FEC records, Alberta Jones donated $1,900 to Bernie Sanders.
There were no ActBlue donations on Jones’ bank records. Instead, Jones said she donated to Trump’s PACs.
Jones told OMG journalists that she felt “violated” by the situation, as her name was being used for entities she did not support.
