Investigation Into Alleged Fox News Hack Connected to Tampa City Council Member

An investigation is underway regarding an alleged hack into Fox News’ system that resulted in the leak of an unaired video of Tucker Carlson.

Investigators searched the home of Tampa City Council member Lynn Hurtak and her husband, media consultant Tim Burke.

A letter from a Tampa federal prosecutor to Fox News was obtained by a news outlet, describing the investigation and matters relating to materials published by Vice News and Media Matters for America.

Burke, Vice, and Media Matters for America are not accused of any wrongdoing.

Reporting from The Hill:

On May 5, Fox sent a cease-and-desist letter to Media Matters over a series of pieces titled “FOXLEAKS” highlighting the footage of Carlson.

Later the same day, the network sent a separate letter to Dominion Voting Systems, a company it recently paid $787.5 million in settlement money stemming from a defamation lawsuit, demanding it conduct an internal probe after media reports have surfaced pertaining to leaked text messages Carlson sent.
