International News Parrots U.S. Mainstream Media Reports Backing Biden on Trump ‘MAGA Republicans’

International parroting of mainstream narrative raises questions.

QUICK FACTS:
  • Mainstream media coverage of President Joe Biden’s Wednesday address emphasized his focus on the influence of “MAGA Republicans.”
  • The question “what is a MAGA Republican?” began to trend on search engines, even in other languages, and a search of international news sources indicated that worldwide, Democrat messaging about supporters of former President Donald Trump reigned supreme.
  • Publications such as The BBC and Canada’s CTV News carried the story of “misinformation in the midterms” and “threats” to democracy.
  • But the repeated message spread across the Times of India, Germany’s DW News, France 24 News, and even Aljazeera, who all published almost identical messages about Biden’s “warning” to voters.
  • The almost mirror-image messaging across the world raises the question of whether these networks are making organic assessments of the news or if they are leaning on directives from a centralized outside source.
EXAMPLES OF MESSAGING:
  • In Germany, DW News reported that the “future of elections could be at stake,” citing the “polarization” of liberals and conservative voters and referencing “election deniers” singularly being a “force among Republicans.”
  • The Sydney Morning Herald announced to their readers that Biden “warn[ed] on the future of US democracy,” saying election doubters could take the country down a “path of chaos” if they win midterm elections next week.
  • Channel News Asia also magnified Biden’s message about “election deniers,” saying they “pose [a] threat” and blamed Trump for discord in the country.
  • South Africa’s News 24 added an “explainer” outlining “how new US laws could trip up voters in the midterm elections,” aggregating a Reuters piece about the upcoming election.
  • The Times of India sided with Democrats saying that “Democracy is in peril in the US.”
  • Aljazeera asserted that “democracy” was “on the ballot” in the midterm elections in their coverage of the president’s speech.
  • While some international news sources didn’t mention the speech, Russia Today (RT) was the only easily accessible international news outlet that published an article on Thursday wich pointed out that Democrats are failing in the polls.
