Illegal Immigrant Arrested in New York For Allegedly Trying to Buy Child

Police in New York arrested an illegal migrant from Tunisia for allegedly attempting to purchase a five-year-old child from her mother.

Officers from Perry Village, New York, detained Monji Jelassi, a 62-year-old Tunisian citizen, after a woman complained the man asked to “purchase” her daughter.

“Removing this individual is a matter of public safety and aligns with the interests of our law enforcement partners to remove predators and other dangerous people from our communities,” said Patrol Agent in Charge David Banks.

Buffalo Sector Border Patrol agents conducted an immigration interview and learned that Jelassi was in the United States illegally after his visa expired.

ICE officials reported the migrant was being held at the Federal Detention Facility in Batavia, New York, as he waits for a deportation hearing.
