A 26-year-old illegal alien from Guatemala has been indicted for allegedly smuggling a teenage girl into the United States and fraudulently claiming to be her brother, highlighting yet another alarming consequence of President Joe Biden’s lax border policies.
The Department of Justice announced on Friday that Juan Tiul Xi, who illegally entered the U.S. in 2023 and resides in Cleveland, is facing multiple federal charges, including encouraging or inducing illegal entry for financial gain, making false statements to a federal agency, and aggravated identity theft.
Prosecutors say Tiul Xi not only facilitated the girl’s unlawful entry but coached her to use a fake identity—specifically, that of his own sister—to deceive immigration authorities. Once she was placed in the custody of the Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), Tiul Xi submitted a sponsorship application riddled with false information in order to gain custody of the minor.
ORR officials, relying on his false claims, released the teenage girl to Tiul Xi on September 5, 2023.
In response, U.S. Attorney General Pamela Bondi condemned the Biden administration’s dismantling of secure border policies and warned of the dangers posed to vulnerable children.
“The prior administration’s border policies created an environment that enabled human trafficking and allowed bad actors to take advantage of at-risk children,” Bondi said. “We are committed to protecting children from the scourge of human trafficking and will not rest until we deliver justice for those who suffered during the border crisis.”
The case is just one example of the broader human cost of open-border policies. Reports have shown that youth sex trafficking has tripled under Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris’s leadership. Despite this, there has been minimal outrage from the corporate media or the Washington establishment.
Stephen Miller, former White House policy advisor, pointed to this case as a symptom of the broader crisis. “This is the genuine evil of the last administration’s immigration policies that the press refuses to cover,” he said.
Tom Homan, President Trump’s former acting ICE director, emphasized that enforcing immigration law is what the American people overwhelmingly support. “There are millions of people around the world trying to come here legally. Meanwhile, over 10 million illegal aliens have entered this country under Biden, sidelining those who follow the rules,” Homan said.
This case underscores the urgent need to restore law and order at the southern border—a priority that the American people have consistently demanded.
