Hunter Biden Files Lawsuit Against Computer Repair Shop Owner Over Sensitive Laptop Data

Hunter Biden has filed a lawsuit against the owner of a computer repair shop who claimed that he had abandoned a laptop with sensitive information, NBC News reports.

The lawsuit, filed in the United States District Court for the District of Delaware, accuses John Paul Mac Isaac of invasion of privacy, including conspiracy to obtain and distribute private information.

The lawsuit alleges that “as a result of Mac Isaac’s unlawful agreement and his conspiracy with others, Mr. Biden’s personal data was made available to third parties and then ultimately to the public at large, which is highly offensive, causing harm to Mr. Biden and his reputation,” Newsmax reports.

Biden’s lawyers also argue that “Mr. Biden had more than a reasonable expectation of privacy that any data that he created or maintained, and especially that which was the most personal such as photographs, videos, interactions with other adults, and communications with his family, would not be accessed, copied, disseminated, or posted on the Internet for others to use against him or his family or for the public to view.”

The contents of the laptop are the subject of a congressional investigation.

Isaac had previously filed a lawsuit alleging that Hunter Biden defamed him by claiming he had illegally taken data from the computer.

However, the lawsuit filed by Biden neither confirms nor denies that he left the laptop with Mac Isaac, received an invoice, or failed to collect the device.

According to the lawsuit, “Mr. Biden is without knowledge sufficient to admit or deny the allegations.”

Biden’s lawyers argue that Delaware law would have restricted Isaac’s ability to access or distribute any data he may have had from the laptop.

They claim that if the defendant did obtain possession of the laptop, he had no right to access, view, use or disclose the information stored on it and that any personal data obtained from the laptop cannot be used or disclosed without Hunter’s express consent.

Earlier this year, Biden’s lawyers confirmed that the laptop belonged to him.

They requested an investigation into individuals who had accessed and distributed personal data from the laptop.

According to the lawsuit, Isaac “began accessing what he claims he had in his possession as Mr. Biden’s data long before 90 days had expired from when he claims any property or data was left in his shop.”

The lawsuit also claims that “Isaac’s claim that property left in his shop is abandoned property after 90 days” is false.

Isaac admitted to viewing private and sensitive information from the device, including a file named “income.pdf,” and providing it to Rudy Giuliani’s lawyer, Robert Costello, who then passed it on to Giuliani.

According to the lawsuit, “the object of invading Mr. Biden’s privacy and disseminating his data was not for any legitimate purpose but to cause harm and embarrassment to Mr. Biden.”
