Democrat loyalty has become the latest flashpoint inside the fractured Democratic Party, with Hunter Biden blaming party members for his father’s 2024 defeat. In his first public interview since the election, the president’s son claimed Democrats “did not remain loyal to the leader of the party.”
“We lost the last election because we did not remain loyal to the leader of the party,” Hunter Biden said on a podcast hosted by former DNC chairman Jaime Harrison. “We had the advantage of incumbency, we had the advantage of an incredibly successful administration, and the Democratic Party literally melted down.”
The remarks reflect growing tensions as party leaders clash over who is responsible for the loss. Hunter Biden, convicted on felony gun and tax charges before receiving a last-minute pardon from Joe Biden, dismissed reports of a cover-up about his father’s health. But insiders tell a different story.
Ron Klain, Biden’s former chief of staff, reportedly said the president was “extremely exhausted” and “unaware of what was happening in his own campaign.” Author Chris Whipple added that Biden “wandered off and fell asleep by the pool” during debate prep.
As the party fractures, criticism mounts. Former Speaker Nancy Pelosi hinted the loss may have been avoidable, while others see deeper structural issues.
