Hundreds of Navy SEALs, veterans, and supporters will gather in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday to march in support of Defense Secretary nominee Pete Hegseth as he faces his Senate confirmation hearing. The event underscores the strong backing Hegseth, a combat veteran, enjoys from military communities.
The march will begin at 9 a.m. EST at the Vietnam Memorial Wall and proceed to other iconic war memorials, including the Korean War Veterans Memorial, the D.C. War Memorial, and the World War II Memorial. The event will conclude near Capitol Hill, where military leaders and prominent supporters will deliver remarks. Participants will carry American flags throughout the peaceful demonstration.
Organized by Navy SEAL veteran Bill Brown and the 62Romeo organization, led by Robert Sweetman, the march aims to show Senate members the unwavering trust and support Hegseth has earned within the military and veteran communities. “The SEAL March for Pete Hegseth demonstrates strong and unwavering support from the warrior class,” the event’s press release stated.
The demonstration is described as a “peaceful, respectful event in the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy of nonviolent action.” Navy SEALs and veterans plan to attend Hegseth’s hearing in person, filling the room as a further sign of solidarity.
The day before the march, a smaller Meet & Greet event will be held at noon at the Courtyard Washington in the Foggy Bottom area. Organized by 62Romeo, the event will feature notable attendees, including Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), Rep. Keith Self (R-TX), and several Navy SEAL veterans such as Bill Brown, Robert Sweetman, Kaj Larsen, Mitch Aguiar, Ian Schinelli, and Jeff Gum.
Pete Hegseth’s nomination as Defense Secretary has drawn significant attention, with many viewing the march as a testament to his leadership and dedication to the values of service members and veterans alike.
