House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) is investigating the United Nation’s involvement with the Biden administration to bring migrants into the United States, according to an exclusive report from The Daily Caller.
Jordan has called for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to hand over documents relating to its efforts alongside the Biden administration to resettle migrants.
The agencies are allegedly working with the State Department’s Safe Mobility Offices for the endeavor.
One letter, sent to IOM Director General Amy Pope, describes the State Department’s initiative as a program that “fast-tracks aliens into the United States out of sight of the American people and without the optics of the chaos at the border.”
“Far from simply expanding the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program, Safe Mobility Offices give aliens outside the United States ‘several options’ to resettle in the United States, including through ‘family reunification, labor pathways,’ and expansion of the Biden Administration’s illegal abuses of humanitarian parole,” it reads.
The letter explains that the committee is “conducting oversight of IOM’s partnership with the U.S. government to support the Biden Administration’s Safe Mobility Offices” and requests information relating to the effort.
A similar letter was sent to UNHCR Commissioner Filippo Grandi.
According to the State Department, the Safe Mobility Initiative is “one of the many ways the United States is facilitating access to safe and lawful pathways from partner countries in the region at no cost, so refugees and vulnerable migrants don’t have to undertake dangerous journeys in search of safety and better opportunities.”
