The House Committee on Homeland Security has initiated a comprehensive investigation and preliminary report into the actions of Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
The Secretary is being accused of neglecting his duties at the Southwest, maritime, and Northern borders.
Last week, Chairman Mark E. Green, MD (R-TN) assembled the Committee members to brief the press on the investigative initiative before leading a full Committee hearing.
In his address, Green expressed profound concern over the Secretary’s actions.
“Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has been willfully derelict in his duties as Secretary of Homeland Security. He has disregarded his oath to the Constitution by ignoring the basic tenets of that Constitution,” stated Green.
Green took issue with Mayorkas’ decision to remove 89 policies implemented by two prior administrations, attributing it to a surge in border crossings.
“The massive millions upon millions of people have crossed our southern border because the secretary of Homeland Security removed 89 policies from two previous administrations. The cause is simple, migrants tested the system, they called home, and millions came because of the secretary’s catch-and-release policies. No detention, immediate parole. And the drug cartels seized on the opportunity,” Green explained.
Congress, under the leadership of Speaker McCarthy and Chairman Green, has instigated a five-phase in-depth analysis into the causes and Mayorkas’ role in this unfolding crisis.
Green mentioned, “Today, the United States Congress… began a five-phase deep dive into the causes, and Secretary Mayorkas’ orchestration, of this tragedy.”
Green and his committee are examining at least ten instances where Secretary Mayorkas may have violated or bypassed laws passed by Congress, even ignoring multiple court orders to halt his activities.
Green expressed the gravity of the situation, saying, “What we know right now is that Secretary Mayorkas has either violated or subverted at least ten laws passed by the United States Congress… The blatant disregard for the Constitution of the United States… is just scratching the surface of the harm Secretary Mayorkas’ dereliction of duty has done to our country.”
The most alarming allegation by Green, however, was the national security risk posed by Secretary Mayorkas’ actions.
He concluded with a somber note, emphasizing, “And the most egregious of all, at least to this former soldier, Secretary Mayorkas has put the national security of the United States at risk.”
This investigation is ongoing, with more details expected to emerge in the coming weeks. Secretary Mayorkas is yet to respond to these accusations.
